Mark Hodkinson was born in Manchester and now lives in West Yorkshire.
He played guitar in several bands, supporting, along the way, The
Stone Roses, Pulp and The Wedding Present.
He has written for The Times for over a decade, three years as
a columnist. He has also written for The Observer.
Believe in the Sign, was
long-listed for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year and The
Guardian and The Times made it one of their sports books of the
year. Alan Plater is working on a screenplay.
The Last Mad Surge of
Youth, his latest novel, takes a semi-autobiographical tone,
about bands, growing up, moving away and getting famous, suicide,
staying at home and getting bored, fanzines, the bomb, love, alcoholism,
egotism and self-doubt.
